Some people come in for circumscribed problems, like anxiety or depression. Others have issues that are more difficult to define, such as with relationships or work. I try to understand what it is like to be the person consulting with me. What brings them in for help, and why now? But also, what motivates them? What is it like to be coming for help?
Often, for a person to understand themselves, the meaning of their experiences, and their motivations, leads to them being able to make choices that are less burdened by fears and preconceptions.
After evaluation, I see people in different capacities. I see some people for psychotherapy, some take medications, some take combinations of both kinds of treatments. But decisions about treatment are made carefully in dialogue with each individual that meets with me
Initial meeting, 45-50 minutes. We will have an initial assessment and recommendation at the end of this meeting.
After initial evaluation. Psychotherapy sessions are 45-50 minutes.
After initial evaluation. If we are only checking in, particularly about progress with medication management. These visits are 20-25 minutes.
